A position-only budget enables you to budget expenses, hours and the value of those hours in a project, and associate these with positions (but not activities).
To set up a position-only budget, carry out the following steps:
If you select Hours, you express each budgeted amount of time as an hourly rate and a number of budgeted hours.
If you select Value, you express the budgeted amount of time directly as a value in the Estimate column (with no reference to a number of hours).
For each budget entry you require, enter the hourly rate for time, and the number of hours (if you selected Hours above), or the expense amount.
If the project uses phases, you can select each phase in turn at the bottom of the screen, specifying a different set of budgeted amounts of time and expenses for each.
You have set up a position-only budget for the project.
The budget can be set up by value only, with no reference to the number of hours.
To do this, change the budget from Hours to Value by carrying out the following steps:
Now you can return to the Budget tab and build the budget by value only. The Hours fields are no longer editable.
